A childminder first aid kit made with recommendations from childcare specialists, HSE, and the UK government; for parents and childcare professionals to treat all common injuries and accidents.

Accidents will and do happen when it comes to childcare. Be prepared to handle any situation.
What type of child first aid kit do you need to protect the children you’re responsible for? We designed our kit using guidance from HSE, the UK government, and childcare specialists. The Steroplast Childcare First Aid Kit is for childminders, schools, nurseries, preschools, childcare centres, babysitters, and parents.

With this kit, you can take care of everyday scrapes and bumps, ensuring wounds stay clean and don’t lead to infection. You can also use this kit to give life-saving first aid in critical situations like severe wounds, burns, fractures, broken bones, and unconsciousness.

You should be able to get help to an injured child within 60 seconds. You must have a first aid kit in order to do this.

Child First Aid Kit UK Requirements
HSE strongly recommends schools supply first aid provisions for pupils in addition to the workplace first aid kits they are legally required to provide. The UK government advises, "first aid provision must be available while people are on school or college premises. It must also be available when staff, pupils and students are working elsewhere on school or college activities including any off-site activity such as educational visits.”

We’ve created two childcare first aid kits, one standard size and a smaller pouch, which is highly portable. You can also get kit refills to keep your equipment topped up.

There’s no mandatory childcare first aid kit contents list, so you must ensure you have all bases covered for the most common injuries and accidents. Our kit has been designed under the watchful eye of a course tutor specialising in childcare first aid courses. The equipment meets the minimum recommendations of HSE and includes additional items we’ve determined necessary through expert feedback.

School head teachers are usually responsible for overseeing the provision of first aid in their schools. If this is you, get in touch with us to help determine your needs exactly. We can help you:

  • Conduct a risk assessment following The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 (if in the North West)
  • Determine what you need in a childcare first aid kit and a workplace first aid kit (another requirement for your school).
  • Help you determine how many first aid kits you need and where to install them.
  • Identify the correct locations for your first aid kit and help you install them (if in the North West).
  • Keep track of the items in your first aid kit and let you know when anything is about to go out of date.
  • Give you advice about defibrillators, which businesses in the UK are encouraged to install.
  • Childcare businesses for younger children require first aid kits for childcare centres and workplace first aid for staff. Find the right preschool first aid kit or nursery first aid kit here.

We also offer sports first aid kits ideal for taking to school away games or just onto the pitch so the right sports first aid supplies are always nearby.

What’s in this childcare first aid kit?
Your risk assessment will determine the contents of your childcare first aid kit. HSE advises certain items when there is no particular risk identified. See how our kit stacks up. Based on specialist feedback, we’ve covered all the basics and some extras we deemed necessary.
