Firechief Flame Retardant 5L Refill

The Firechief FRS2 Flame Retardant 5L Refill is a ready-to-use, water-based fire-retardant treatment designed for suitable water-absorbent natural and synthetic materials and fabrics.

It is ideal for larger treatment areas and for refilling the smaller 750ml trigger-spray bottle. The liquid is colourless, easy to apply and suitable for materials such as cotton, wool, polyester and viscose where the relevant fabric and application requirements are met.

Suitable for Absorbent Fabrics and Soft Furnishings

The FRS2 is designed for use on water-absorbent materials, including natural and synthetic fabrics.

It is particularly suited to suitable soft furnishings and textiles where a fire-retardant treatment is required.

Tested Performance

The product sheet states that the treatment has been tested to:

• BS 5852: Clause 11: 2006 (2011) for a polyester sample
• Type B performance requirements of BS 5867: Part 2: 2008 for cotton, wool, polyester and viscose samples.

This is more precise than the older generic references to BS 5852:1990 and BS 5867:Part 2:1980.

Important Application Notes

• The manufacturer advises:
• Do not dilute the liquid
• Test on a small, inconspicuous area before full application
• Remove immediately from metallic surfaces to help prevent tarnishing
• Do not use on surfaces that can be damaged by water
• Residue may remain on non-porous surfaces
• If the treated fabric becomes wet, it should be re-treated to maintain the required flammability performance.
