Stryker, the manufacturer of HeartSine devices, has issued an official customer communication outlining the current Pad-Pak and HeartSine samaritan PAD shipment delays.

The HeartSine samaritan Adult Aviation Pad-Pak - PAD-PAK-07 is a genuine replacement battery and electrode cartridge for compatible HeartSine samaritan PAD defibrillators.

This aviation-certified version combines the AED battery and adult defibrillation pads in one replaceable cartridge, simplifying routine maintenance by giving you just one component and one expiry date to monitor.

The PAD-PAK-07 is ETSO/TSO-C142a certified for use on commercial fixed-wing aircraft and is compatible with the HeartSine samaritan PAD 350P, 360P and 500P.

Aviation Certified

The PAD-PAK-07 is the ETSO/TSO-certified aviation version of the HeartSine adult Pad-Pak.

HeartSine specifies this cartridge for use on commercial fixed-wing aircraft, where the aviation-certified Pad-Pak is required.

This distinguishes it from the standard adult PAD-PAK-03 cartridge used for general non-aviation applications.

Combined Battery and Electrode Cartridge

HeartSine uses a combined cartridge system rather than separate AED batteries and electrode pads.

The PAD-PAK-07 contains:

• The AED battery
• One pair of adult defibrillation electrodes

This means there is only one replacement component and one expiry date to manage.

After the cartridge has been used or reaches its expiry date, the complete Pad-Pak is replaced.

Adult Patient Use

The HeartSine Adult Pad-Pak is intended for:

• Adults
• Children over 8 years old, or
• Patients weighing more than 25 kg

For younger or smaller children, use the appropriate HeartSine Pediatric-Pak where compatible.

Shelf Life and Battery Capacity

HeartSine specifies a 4-year shelf life from the date of manufacture for the Pad-Pak.

When new, the cartridge provides capacity for:

• More than 60 shocks at 200 J, or
• Up to 6 hours of battery use

At four years, HeartSine specifies remaining capacity for more than 10 shocks at 200 J.

The exact expiry date printed on the cartridge should be checked routinely as part of your AED inspection schedule.
